Alokesh Aparesh Lahiri, known as Bappi Lahiri, was born into a Bengali Brahmin family in Calcutta, to parents Aparesh and Bansuri Lahiri, both renowned singers. Raised in a musical environment, Lahiri began playing the tabla at the age of 3, later studying under Samta Prasad.
