Prithviraj Kapoor, born Prithvinath Kapoor on 3 November 1906 in Peshawar, British India, hailed from a Punjabi Hindu Pathan Khatri family. His father, Dewan Basheshwarnath Kapoor, served in the Indian Imperial Police. Raised in Lyallpur District, Punjab, and later in Peshawar, Kapoor completed his education at Lyallpur Khalsa College and Edwardes College, Peshawar, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.
